KNOW THE COACHES

Coach Casey, Founder and Co-Owner

As a life long athlete and student, I've been studying exercise science for 15 years. I began working at the FAU Recreation and Fitness Center while attaining my bachelors and I have been in the industry ever since. Through my experience working at sports performance facilities and interning at different rehab settings, I have always combined the two in my approach to training myself and others. In 2012, I had 5 major surgeries so I know what it is like to feel let down by your body and have to start from the beginning. My goal is to train anyone for anything, no matter what obstacle they have to overcome.

Luigi Rotondi, Co-Owner and Miami Dade County Fireman

I have always been involved in athletics my whole life from karate, wrestling, kung fu, powerlifting, and achieving my purple belt in Brazilian jujitsu. In 2013, I began training for my first Spartan Race with Coach Casey and have competed in several races. I noticed that training for obstacle races really helped to improve my job performance as a lot of the drills we do are directly transferrable to the duties of first responders. It’s because of that, I decided to become a Spartan Coach. I have been learning and applying Casey’s “Atomic Method” ever since.

After being a volunteer firefighter for two years, I began working with Miami Dade in 2015. Of all my credentials receiving the Chief John C. Soeder Camaraderie Award in my recruit class is what I hold to the highest standard. Being able to lift up your teammates when needed is greater than any certification. I take pride in being a student in everything I do, training is my way of life, I look forward to witnessing people achieve their greatest potential.

Ruben Hernandez, Coach and Former Marine

Growing up in South Florida as a son of a successful professional jockey I was influenced by his drive, dedication and commitment to his health and fitness levels for his career. I was always active in outdoor activities and playing sports all year round as a child. In high school I played on the varsity soccer team and also was on the swim team. When I was 18 I left to serve in the United States Marine Corps for 5yrs of honorable service earning the rank of Sergeant. My service in the Marines exposed me to extreme styles of training and conditions which truly fueled my passion furthermore into performance training.

I began racing OCR’s competitively fall of 2014 with a very good friend and discovered my passion for it because the training and style of events reminded me of my military experience. My background in understanding the discipline and knowledge in athletics and sports performance training has made me want to guide those seeking that knowledge by becoming a coach.
